In February 2025, Leister introduced the UNIDRIVE 505, a groundbreaking semi-automatic welding tool specifically engineered for the pool installation industry.
Developed in close collaboration with experts in the pool membrane sector, the UNIDRIVE 505 is designed to butt weld membrane sheets used in pool floor panel construction. Building upon the proven foundation of the UNIDRIVE 500, this latest innovation incorporates advanced modifications tailored to the unique demands of pool installations.
A key enhancement lies in the redesigned nozzle, which enables the UNIDRIVE 505 to travel precisely between overlapping membrane sheets. This configuration allows simultaneous heating of both membrane surfaces and the joining seam, ensuring a uniform and reliable weld. Following the nozzle, an extra-wide pressure roller consolidates the bond, delivering a high-quality finish.
One of the standout benefits of the UNIDRIVE 505 is its ability to produce a completely sealed butt weld, eliminating gaps that can occur with traditional hand welding. This full-edge fusion not only enhances structural integrity but also prevents the accumulation of dirt and debris—common issues associated with conventional methods.
Historically, this type of installation has required highly skilled technicians and considerable manual effort, typically involving handheld tools and rollers. To further streamline the welding process, the UNIDRIVE 505 comes equipped with a starter plate, facilitating smooth tool entry between membrane sheets for a seamless start.
It is important to note that the UNIDRIVE 505 is purpose-built for this specific application and cannot be retrofitted or reconfigured into a UNIDRIVE 500.
