Used for some headlight lens, bathroom ware and display units |
ABS/PC: |
Generally found in high impact car parts |
ABS/PBT: |
New blend of ABS and Polybutalene tetralhalate, used for later model motorcycle farings |
AES: |
High impact styrenic material with superior weatherability to ABS |
ASA: |
LURAN S – another styrenic blend with superior weatherability and temperature resistance to ABS or PVC for some Ford exterior trim |
PA6: |
A specifically modified Type 6 nylon with improved impact resistance and good welding properties |
PC: |
Polycarbonate – used in a variety of products requiring clarity, high impact or electrical properties |
PC/PBT: |
XENOY – A blend of polycarbonate and poly butalene tetrathalate . Used in some car dash boards |
PC/PET: |
A blend of polycarbonate and polyethylene tetrathalate found in at least brands of ride-on mowers - and colour matched accordingly |
POM: |
ACETAL resin. A crystalline engineering plastic found in bearings, springs or mouldings requiring superior dimensional stability to nylons or products requiring fatigue resistance and resistance to repeated impact or loadings. Very acrid fumes when welding |
PPO: |
(NORYL) - used in appliance housings requiring high temperature or SE – O properties with easy moulding and good dimensional stability |
PP/EPDM: |
A rubber modified polypropylene used for Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda and other bumpers |
PUR: |
General purpose grade polyurethane where clarity is not important. For bumpers or industrial moldings |
PUR-C: |
(High clarity grade) – with excellent welding characteristics |
